Local musicians are delivering musical Zoom sessions across the Coffs Coast through the Musicians in Health project. The Community Participation Program choir at local disability service provider Coffs Harbour Support Services has been lucky enough to be involved! The members of the choir are enjoying experiencing a variety of different genres of music. The participants have been learning new ways to use their voices and percussion instruments along with learning more about the world of zoom and the internet.
The program is an extension of the Musicians in Hospitals project that started earlier in the year but has been paused by COVID. Local musicians, trained by registered music therapist, Bonnie Nilsson, delivered music sessions in various locations at the Coffs Harbour Health Campus – from bedsides to communal areas. Thanks to a grant from Coffs Harbour City Council, they are now delivering sessions on Zoom three times a week. For more information contact Stephanie Sims (stephanie@ukoono.com.au).
